Glaze Forest Restoration Project, USDA Forest Service, Deschutes National Forest – 2009

Developed silvicultural prescriptions to restore structural conditions in old growth ponderosa pines stands and accelerate development of mature forest characteristics in young ponderosa pine stands on 1,000 acres of USFS land, adjacent to Black Butte, east of Sisters, Oregon. An approach termed “mosaic thinning” was designed and applied on these lands. Forest Service marking crews were trained to layout these complex prescriptions.
